Clark Recruitment & Executive Announce Next Phase! A Message from Deirdre Coghlan-Murray
In 1998, I had a vision to set up a company that delivered an international level of service in recruitment at a local level—and so, Clark was born.
As I step away as Managing Director, I want to take a moment to reflect. In the early days, I was invited to speak at a business event for entrepreneurs about setting up a business. My aim was not to tell anyone how or what to do, but rather to share my experiences. I chose the theme of timing—and the importance of timing when making life’s big decisions.
At that time, I had a vision for Clark, but I also had a vision for my life—one that balanced my career growth with my role as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
Here I am in 2025, once again reflecting on timing. I am 26 years older than when I started Clark—old enough to know when it’s time to pass the baton and still young enough to explore what comes next. I know for certain that it’s not retirement, but rather a new chapter—after I create some space and time to explore.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been surrounded by so many wonderful people throughout my journey. They have enabled me to build Clark into not just the best recruitment services company in Co. Kildare, but one that is nationally recognised for excellence.
My journey with Clark has run parallel with my journey as a mother to Sam and Jack—both have been filled with challenges, growth, and joy. Just like Sam and Jack, I have loved watching Clark and our team grow and mature, overcome obstacles, show resilience, innovate, build relationships, make friends, uphold strong values, celebrate success, and learn from failures—always having the courage to do what’s right.
For me, the time is right to pause. Clark stands on strong foundations, and with Stephen Farrell O’Callaghan stepping in as Managing Director and Sarah Mortimer as Director of Recruitment and People by his side, I am excited to watch the next stage of Clark’s journey unfold.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to:
- The Clark team, past and present, who have played a role in making Clark the success it is today.
- Our clients, many of whom I have known for over 26 years and who have shared this journey with me.
- My sons, Sam and Jack, and my husband and best friend Brian, for their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in me.
- And finally, Stephen and Sarah—I am so proud to hand over the Clark baton to two exceptional leaders who will guide Clark into its next phase with passion, integrity, and ambition.
