Safeguarding Coordinator

Golf Ireland is the single governing body for golf on the island of Ireland, established in January 2021 it is responsible for leading, growing and supporting the game of golf. The primary functions of Golf Ireland include the administration of Championships and Inter-Club events, the administration of the World Handicap System and the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status, the delivery of a world-class high-performance programme, contesting and hosting international fixtures, supporting clubs and growing the game. Golf Ireland is currently in the middle of its first strategic plan titled ‘’Golf is a Game for Everyone’’

An exciting job opportunity has arisen within Golf Ireland, and we are now seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Safeguarding Coordinator to support our Head of Safeguarding to implement approved strategic and operational plans. This role requires someone with a strong attention to detail along with experience or an interest in safeguarding.

About the Role:

3 year fixed term contract – part-time 3 days per week
Location Maynooth, Co Kildare 

 

Principal Responsibilities:
 

  • Familiarisation of Golf Ireland’s Safeguarding guidance documentation
  • Become an authorised signature to process all Garda Vetting/Access NI applications
  • Ensuring an up-to-date register is maintained which details all Safeguarding Training and Garda vetting/Access NI carried out by Golf Ireland via a volunteer management portal.
  • Liaise with Golf Ireland Regions, Championships and HP departments to ensure all volunteers/staff have valid sg training, vetting and signed codes of conduct.
  • Ensure all clubs receiving grants have relevant safeguarding policies and procedures in place.
  • Maintain a system of record keeping in line with data protection and vetting guidelines.
  • Co-ordinate the tutors and venues for Safeguarding workshops/webinars and build a network of Safeguarding tutors.  Manage the set up all online workshops via zoom/eventbrite
  • To act as the first point of contact and assist with answering safeguarding queries
  • Escalate any complex safeguarding queries to the Head of Safeguarding
  • Updating relevant section of Golf Ireland website and liaising with comms team
  • Circulation of relevant information and resource materials to clubs
  • Communication with Club Children’s Officers to ensure the implementation of Golf’s Safeguarding Policy.
  • Attending appropriate training as required to act as a resource to clubs and staff members.

Experience and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • A broad understanding of safeguarding/child protection procedures
  • At least 3 years prior office /administration experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in data processing.
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to develop and implement plans.

Desirable

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • Hold a child protection tutor qualification
