Quality Manager

Quality Manager – Ensure the QMS is implemented effectively through robust controls, to deliver safe products which meet customer specifications.  To manage the QA team and also prepare effectively and lead all regulatory, third party & customer inspections to ensure they run successfully on the day.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Write, drive and implement plant wide Food Safety / HACCP / TACCP and Quality Management Systems with support of the QA and other relevant teams – lead HACCP/TACCP team meetings.
  • Lead & drive the Food Safety Culture plan.
  • Responsible for ensuring all product and environmental testing occurs to schedule and as required. Effective systems to be in place to ensure control of pathogens for both product and environment.
  • Maintenance of the customer specific standards and gap closure where they exist.
  • Responsible to prepare effectively and lead all regulatory, third party (BRC) & customer inspections. Follow through and submission of close out reports for all audits.
  • To work closely with Veterinary Inspector as required in managing relationship with Department of Agriculture.
  • Full support provided for any crisis & incident management for Food Safety issues which may impact the business.
  • Responsible to challenge the QA team in meeting their job specifications in all key areas including calibration schedules, micro, shelf life & nutritional testing programs.
  • Communicate on relevant matters with other departments like production, maintenance etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring internal auditing of QMS carried as per schedule and ensure site hygiene audits carried out to assure correct standards maintained and action taken where targets not reached.
  • Responsible for trending all relevant data held by the quality department which could aid in continuous improvement i.e. lab results, complaints, GMP, audit results etc.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of Pest Control on site.
  • Lead on ensuring all technical aspects of third country export certification loads occurs to plan.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum Degree qualification in a food related discipline.
  • Product quality systems and proven track record in same an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years quality management experience with a manufacturing and ideally distribution background.
  • Highly motivated individual.
  • Excellent team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of legislative and technical requirements.
  • Good knowledge of retailer requirements and BRC requirements
  • Aptitude for problem solving and informed decision making.
