Dumper Machine Mechanic

An indigenous Kildare company with a formidable nationwide presence, our client caters for any scale project in the supply and installation of passive fire protection for the construction sector. 
Within this role, you are responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing dumper trucks and other heavy-duty machinery. This role also involves working with sheet metal, assembling, installing and repairing sheet metal products and equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and tyre checks to ensure machinery operates smoothly.
  2. Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and electrical systems.
  3. Test machinery after repairs or maintenance to ensure proper functioning and performance. Adjust and fine-tune components as necessary.
  4. Order and manage spare parts, ensuring availability of necessary components for maintenance and repairs.
  5. Provide on-site troubleshooting and emergency repair services to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  6. Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and machinery to create products according to specifications.
  7. Inspect, maintain, and repair existing sheet metal installations and equipment, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
  8. Ensure all work meets quality standards and adheres to project specifications and industry regulations.
  9. Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Use protective equipment and follow procedures to prevent accidents.
  10. Select and handle materials appropriately, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimising waste.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using sheet metal tools and machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy machinery components.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for working with heavy equipment and components.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Attention to detail and precision in fabrication and installation work.
  • Experience in sheet metal work or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience as a mechanic, particularly with heavy machinery, is preferred.

This role requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual who can work both independently and as part of a team.
