Engineering Technician
Deliver a high-quality maintenance service to production and the site wide facility. You will be part of a multi-disciplined team of Fitters & Electricians in ensuring all maintenance work is carried out in an effective and efficient manner
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:
- Providing both reactive and planned maintenance support to the full site
- Carry out installations and commissioning of plant/ equipment & trouble shooting of same
- Carry out basic programming and diagnostic of plant and equipment
- Contribute to the efficiency of the operation by maximizing uptime of machinery & minimise downtime in production and utility areas
- Carry out the execution of the preventive maintenance programs
- Troubleshooting using PLC Programs
- Technical support for all the plant facilities (including but not limited to compressed air & refrigeration
- Support and participate in all environmental, health and safety and quality activities
- Carry out engineering work orders in a timely and safe manner while maintaining adherence to cGMP
- As part of the Maintenance team, you will need to work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications
- Have working knowledge/ experience with a “Lock -out Tag-out” programme
- Adhere to all site policies on Quality, Health & safety, e.g. clean overalls, clean work boots, hair nets, hearing protection, hand washing, LOTO etc
- Assist the Health & Safety team in carrying out risk assessments of new & existing machines
- Ensure Health & Safety training is rolled out to the Maintenance team
- Closely monitor line, machine performance and improve where possible
- Fully support the line leaders/ line support i.e., Overtime, shifts cover, phone support & callouts
- Overseeing of contractors on site
- Provide general maintenance support as designated by supervisors/ manager to include any or all the following areas: process equipment; HVAC equipment; refrigeration; packaging equipment
- Provide the Engineering Department with the highest levels of support. Analysing plant downtime levels and implementing effective strategies to increase uptime
- Ensure that Engineering Manager and other area Mangers are kept informed of significant developments within their areas
Qualifications/ Experience/ Skills:
- A relevant third level qualification in Engineering or time-served Electrician or fitter (Electrical/ Mechanical Qualification/ Mechanical Experience)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role, planned and reactive maintenance skills
- Working knowledge & experience of relevant Health, Safety & Environmental legislation
- Understand Food Safety policies and legislation (BRC & ISO)
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills, as well as an analytical, decisive approach
- Experience of a wide range of motor control systems & process temperature controls & pneumatics
- Experience using a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Experience of safety systems utilising Isolation / lock-off procedures, risk assessment and permit to work
- Flexible and adaptable
- Strong team player with ability to work on own initiative
- PLC/ PC Control Systems experience
- There will also be a requirement to be on-call in this role
