SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST

The Supply Chain Specialist plays a central role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant movement of materials throughout the organisation’s supply chain. This role oversees end?to?end logistics, procurement, inventory management and planning to maintain continuity of supply for both production operations and our customers.
This position requires strong organisational skills, problem?solving ability, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners. The role supports both day?to?day operational needs and wider continuous?improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

LOCATION
Togher Industrial Estate, Cork

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the supply chain from sourcing raw material to final delivery to our customers.
  • Coordinate all inbound and outbound transport activities, ensuring timely, compliant and cost?effective delivery of materials and finished goods.
  • Act as the primary operational contact for our logistics partners, managing delivery updates, issues, daily shipment load planning and data transfer.
  • Prepare and issue all required shipping, customs and export documentation for international transport, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, monitor supplier confirmations and delivery schedules, and maintain schedule plans to prevent supply disruption.
  • Work closely with Finance on invoice approvals, discrepancies, credit notes, and month?end PO close?out cycle.
  • Monitor inventory levels, maintain accurate ERP master data and coordinate stock movements between sites and external storage facilities.
  • Oversee returnable container tracking, ensuring timely returns and availability for operations.
  • Support daily warehouse and dispatch planning, resolving operational issues to ensure orders are delivered on time.
  • Contribute to supply chain planning by managing replenishment requirements, monitoring lead times, and aligning with production and customer demand.
  • Manage and develop KPI reporting for supply chain operations, ensuring performance is reviewed and managed on a regular basis.
  • Act as a central point of contact across internal teams for supply chain activities, providing clear communication on order status, delays and resolutions.
  • Lead or support process improvement initiatives and system improvement projects to improve efficiency and overall supply chain performance.
  • Manage multiple concurrent operational tasks, troubleshoot issues proactively, and support business needs with a flexible and solution?driven approach.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support a smooth and resilient supply chain operation.

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum Ordinary Bachelor’s Degree (NFQ Level 7) in Supply Chain Management or another related Business discipline is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant Supply Chain Management experience (Planning, Logistics etc.) is required.
  • Experience working in a similar environment, an advantage.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and limitations, including hazardous materials handling, desirable.
  • ERP System competency is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience problem-solving and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid visa/citizenship to work in Ireland.

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Night Sortation / Operations Manager to lead and oversee overnight operations at their logistics hub in Swords. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring parcels are accurately sorted, routed, and processed to meet next-day delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the night sortation process to ensure parcels are processed efficiently and accurately for the next day’s delivery cycle.

  • Lead, supervise, and develop night shift staff, including sorters, forklift operators, and other overnight personnel.

  • Monitor operational performance metrics such as throughput, accuracy, and cost efficiency, driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, particularly around manual handling and heavy machinery.

  • Use warehouse and sortation systems (WMS/WCS) to track operations, manage exceptions, and report performance to senior management.

  • Coordinate effectively with day-shift teams to ensure smooth handover and operational alignment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in logistics, warehousing, or parcel operations, ideally in a supervisory or management role.

  • Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with warehouse sortation processes, parcel handling, and logistics IT systems.

  • Knowledge of health & safety standards relevant to warehousing and sortation environments.

  • Ability to analyse operational data to improve performance and efficiency.

  • Third-level education in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field is desirable but not essential — relevant experience is highly valued.

The Role

My client is a well-established manufacturing business based in West Wicklow and is currently seeking an experienced Supply Chain Specialist to take ownership of purchasing, inventory, and materials planning within a busy production environment. This is a standalone role with high visibility and responsibility, reporting into senior management.

The position is heavily focused on purchasing and procurement, managing a diverse global supplier base and maintaining optimal stock levels to support on-demand customer orders, primarily for a key German customer.


The Role

As Supply Chain Specialist, you will be responsible for end-to-end purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management across 360+ components, with warehouse stock values typically exceeding €1m.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing procurement of raw materials including fasteners, plastic granulates, and raw steel

  • Overseeing stock control, inventory planning, and replenishment (including Kanban-managed parts)

  • Managing and negotiating with global suppliers across Europe, the Far East, and Ireland

  • Acting as the primary supply chain liaison with the main customer in Germany, responding to short-notice demand changes

  • Maintaining accurate master data and supporting MRP and production planning processes

  • Monitoring supply chain KPIs such as inventory value, supplier performance, and cost trends

  • Supporting non-inventory procurement (energy contracts, service providers, etc.)

  • Driving continuous improvement across purchasing, inventory, and supply chain processes

  • Supporting finance with reporting, budgeting, and ad-hoc analysis


Systems & Tools

  • SAP currently in use, with a transition underway to SAP HANA for Warehouse Management

  • SAP expertise is not essential — experience with any ERP or WMS system is acceptable


About You

You will be a highly organised, practical, and commercially minded supply chain professional with experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management.

Ideal background:

  • Supply chain, purchasing, or procurement experience in FMCG, retail, logistics, or manufacturing

  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills

  • Experience managing high SKU counts and inventory-heavy environments

  • Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with international stakeholders

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure

  • Continuous improvement mindset

Engineering industry experience is not required.

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00

  • Friday: 08:30 – 15:50
