Temporary Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Assistant to join our client's finance team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. This role will commence as soon as possible and will run for a minimum of 9 months.
About the Role
This is a key position within the accounts function, focused primarily on the accurate and timely allocation of incoming payments. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the integrity of customer accounts and supporting the wider finance team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Daily allocation of incoming payments from bank accounts to the correct customer accounts
  • Matching payments with remittances and investigating discrepancies
  • Chasing up missing remittance advices where required
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations
  • Supporting credit control activities (approximately 20% of the role)
  • Maintaining accurate financial records within the system

Requirements

  • Approximately 2 years’ experience in an accounts or finance role
  • Strong understanding of debits and credits
  • Experience with payment allocation and bank reconciliations is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar accounting systems
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, particularly for liaising with customers regarding remittances
