Financial Accountant

My Waterford based client is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will assist in preparing accurate financial reports, manage ledger activities, and support the month-end and year-end close processes. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and reporting standards, while providing analysis and insight to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts in line with accounting and legal standards, ensuring accuracy and supporting documentation in place.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure all entries are accurate and timely.
  • Complete month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Support statutory audits by preparing audit files and liaising with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in preparation of VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax returns.
  • Monitor and manage fixed asset register.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
  • Continuously review processes and controls, recommending improvements where necessary.

Skills / Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-2  years’ post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems skills (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
