Head of Finance
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to lead a multi-site finance function in a dynamic, people-focused organisation. This pivotal role ensures financial compliance, drives efficiency, and provides strategic oversight while leading and mentoring the finance team and collaborating with senior stakeholders to shape organisational growth and success.
As Finance Manager, you will:
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Compliance
- Ensure all financial practices meet regulatory, legal, and funding requirements.
- Maintain and develop robust internal financial controls to ensure budgetary control, management, and accountability.
- Promote full compliance with financial policies, regulations, and best practice at all times.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare year-end accounts, monthly management accounts, and other reports for the CEO and Board.
- Monitor and report on budgetary performance, highlighting variances and corrective actions.
- Identify and report on financial trends, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all reporting.
- Develop costing systems to support service planning and strategic decisions.
Operational Management of the Finance Function
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations including salaries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and management information systems.
- Supervise finance staff across multiple sites, addressing competency issues and ensuring consistency.
- Integrate and enhance financial and management information systems across the organisation.
Maximising Resources & Driving Efficiency
- Promote best practice in cost control, income generation, and value-for-money initiatives.
- Develop KPIs, financial governance frameworks, and re-engineered processes to drive efficiency.
- Implement and update accounting policies to ensure ongoing compliance and operational effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement & External Relationships
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external auditors, advisors, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee insurance cover and manage the annual renewal process.
- Represent the organisation at senior level, ensuring financial matters are communicated clearly and transparently.
Leadership & Strategic Impact
- Provide clear leadership, mentoring, and development for the finance team.
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to ensure financial resources are deployed effectively to meet strategic objectives.
- Lead on change management to ensure the organisation’s resources are maximised and aligned with goals.
The Person
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven leadership experience in financial management within a complex or multi-site environment.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and governance.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands.
- A collaborative and flexible approach, with resilience to lead through change and drive continuous improvement.
