Candidate Series | Part 1: Before the Interview

Candidate Series | Part 1: Before the Interview
Getting the interview is only the first step. What you do before it can make all the difference.
Good interview preparation isn’t about rehearsing perfect answers. It’s about understanding the opportunity and being able to clearly explain why you are right for it.
Before your interview:
Research the company, its business and its market.
Read the job description again — properly.
Identify examples from your experience that demonstrate the key requirements.
Be ready to explain your achievements with measurable examples.
Understand why you want the role and why you are considering leaving your current position.
Know your salary expectations, notice period and availability.
Prepare thoughtful questions for the hiring manager.
Test your technology if the interview is online and plan your journey if it’s in person.
And importantly, talk to your recruitment partner beforehand.
We know the client. We understand the brief, the personalities involved and what the hiring manager is looking for. Use that knowledge.
The strongest candidates don’t necessarily have the most polished answers. They are the candidates who arrive prepared, informed and able to communicate their value clearly and authentically.
Preparation builds confidence — and confidence comes across in an interview.
Next: Part 2 — What you do after the interview matters too.
