Supply Chain Transformation Director – Logistics
Operational Transformation | Automation | Logistics | Lean Leadership
Location: Multi-site – Leinster & Munster
Level: Director / Senior Leadership
Sector: Logistics, Supply Chain & Distribution
The Opportunity
Clark Executive has been exclusively retained to appoint a Supply Chain Transformation Director for a leading Irish logistics organisation.
This is a newly created senior leadership position with a significant mandate: to help transform, modernise and scale a complex multi-site logistics operation.
Reporting directly to the Director of Logistics, the successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across significant warehousing and domestic transport operations throughout Leinster and Munster.
The organisation is entering an important phase of its development and is looking for an accomplished operational leader who can identify opportunities to improve performance and, critically, has the experience to turn those opportunities into measurable results.
This is not a traditional logistics management role.
We are looking for someone who has changed operations, not simply managed them.
The Role
The Supply Chain Transformation Director will take a leading role in shaping the future operating model of the organisation.
Working closely with the Director of Logistics and senior leadership team, you will assess existing operations and develop a clear roadmap for improvement across processes, technology, automation, productivity, cost, service and organisational capability.
You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational credibility, ensuring that transformation is delivered while maintaining excellent customer service and day-to-day operational performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing senior leadership across multi-site warehousing and domestic transport operations.
- Identifying and delivering major operational transformation initiatives.
- Reviewing and redesigning warehouse, transport and supply chain processes.
- Identifying opportunities to introduce automation and new technology.
- Leading the implementation and optimisation of WMS, TMS and other operational systems.
- Embedding Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Improving productivity, labour utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Identifying and delivering sustainable cost reductions.
- Developing business cases for operational and technology investment.
- Using data and operational KPIs to identify opportunities and measure performance.
- Developing a scalable operating model capable of supporting future growth.
- Leading senior operational teams through significant organisational change.
- Maintaining strong customer relationships and delivering against contractual KPIs and SLAs.
- Ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, Health & Safety and operational governance.
Transformation & Automation
Transformation will be central to this appointment.
We are particularly interested in speaking with leaders who can demonstrate experience of delivering initiatives involving:
- Warehouse automation
- Warehouse redesign
- WMS and TMS implementation
- ERP and systems integration
- Robotics and mechanisation
- Process automation
- Network optimisation
- Data analytics and BI
- Operational dashboards
- Labour optimisation
- Lean / Six Sigma
- Continuous Improvement
- Process standardisation and waste reduction
You do not need to be a technology specialist.
You do, however, need to understand how technology, automation and operational improvement can be used to deliver measurable commercial and operational results.
The Candidate
We are looking for an established senior leader with significant experience across logistics, supply chain, distribution or another complex operational environment.
Your background could potentially include:
Contract Logistics / 3PL | FMCG | Retail & Grocery Distribution | Food & Beverage | Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Distribution | Temperature-Controlled Logistics | Consumer Electronics | Large-Scale Fulfilment | Highly Automated Distribution
We are also interested in hearing from senior operational leaders from adjacent sectors who have exceptional transformation and automation experience combined with significant warehousing, distribution or supply chain responsibility.
You are likely to have experience of:
- Leading large-scale logistics, supply chain or distribution operations.
- Managing complex multi-site environments.
- Significant warehouse and distribution operations.
- Domestic transport operations.
- Leading large operational teams and senior managers.
- Delivering major operational transformation.
- Automation and technology implementation.
- WMS and TMS implementation or optimisation.
- Lean Six Sigma or equivalent Continuous Improvement programmes.
- Process and warehouse redesign.
- Cost reduction and productivity improvement.
- Budget and P&L responsibility.
- Developing and delivering operational strategy.
- Managing major customers and senior stakeholders.
- Leading teams successfully through significant change.
Experience within FMCG, pharmaceutical, healthcare, temperature-controlled or other regulated environments would be particularly relevant.
What Will Set You Apart
We are particularly interested in what you have actually delivered.
The strongest candidates will be able to demonstrate examples of operations they have materially improved:
What was the challenge?
What did you change?
What technology or automation did you introduce?
How did you bring your people through the change?
What measurable improvement did you achieve?
This could include improvements in productivity, labour utilisation, service levels, cost, warehouse capacity, transport efficiency, customer performance or overall operational scalability.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to take on a highly influential role within a substantial Irish logistics operation at an important point in its development.
You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of the operation rather than simply inherit an established model.
For the right individual, this represents an opportunity to:
- Influence operational strategy at senior leadership level.
- Lead significant transformation and modernisation.
- Shape future automation and technology investment.
- Improve the performance of a substantial multi-site operation.
- Build a strong Continuous Improvement culture.
- Develop and lead high-performing operational teams.
- Create the operational platform required to support future growth.
If you are an experienced operations or supply chain leader who has successfully transformed complex operations and can demonstrate measurable results, we would be interested in speaking with you.
All enquiries and applications will be managed in the strictest confidence by Clark Executive.
