Public Relations Manager

As Public Relations Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive public relations and media relations strategy that enhances brand visibility, reputation, and market positioning. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will ensure consistent communication of the organisation’s values, initiatives, and achievements across key audiences including consumers, media, industry influencers, business partners, employees, and other stakeholders.

The role will play a critical part in driving brand awareness, engagement, visitor/customer acquisition, revenue growth, and strengthening the organisation’s position as a leading destination within its sector.

Key Responsibilities

PR Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement an integrated PR and communications strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Build and maintain the organisation’s profile and credibility among key media, industry influencers, opinion leaders, and strategic partners.
  • Create annual PR plans that support commercial objectives, brand awareness targets, customer engagement goals, and business growth initiatives.
  • Establish measurable qualitative and quantitative objectives and evaluate performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Coordinate local, national, and international PR activities to maximise media exposure and brand impact.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, consumer behaviour, and industry developments to identify opportunities and inform strategy.
  • Promote consistent messaging and brand positioning across all internal and external communications channels.

Media Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, broadcasters, influencers, and digital content creators.
  • Secure high-quality editorial coverage across print, digital, broadcast, and social media platforms.
  • Develop and manage media databases, contact lists, and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, briefing documents, statements, and other communication materials.
  • Act as a key point of contact for media enquiries and interview opportunities.

PR Campaigns & Events

  • Plan and deliver PR campaigns that support business objectives, product launches, partnerships, events, and brand initiatives.
  • Manage external PR agencies, consultants, and suppliers to ensure effective delivery of campaigns and activities.
  • Organise media events, press conferences, launches, influencer engagements, familiarisation visits, and VIP experiences.
  • Coordinate media attendance at key events and oversee all associated logistics and communications.
  • Ensure all PR materials and communications adhere to brand guidelines and corporate standards.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on media coverage, campaign performance, audience engagement, and return on investment.
  • Produce regular reports and insights for senior leadership, highlighting achievements, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Manage PR budgets effectively and ensure activities deliver measurable value.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a PR, communications, or media relations role within a fast-paced and commercially focused environment.
  • Experience managing PR agencies, media partnerships, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong understanding of traditional, digital, and social media landscapes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to align communications activities with business objectives.
  • A creative and innovative mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages would be advantageous.
