Operations Manager – Supply Chain & Distribution

Our client is an established organisation operating within the logistics and distribution sector. As part of their continued development, they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of a significant warehouse and distribution operation in Dublin.
This is a senior operational role with responsibility for leading people, managing performance, maintaining high standards of service and compliance, and driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Reporting to senior operations leadership, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the effective management of the warehouse operation, ensuring that people, processes, resources and service delivery are managed to a consistently high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day warehouse and distribution operation.
  • Manage, motivate and develop operational teams, including Supervisors and Team Leaders.
  • Ensure agreed productivity, service, quality and operational KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Manage staffing levels, work allocation, scheduling and resource requirements.
  • Plan operational capacity and optimise the use of warehouse space and resources.
  • Monitor operational performance and produce clear management reports and performance analysis.
  • Ensure warehouse processes and procedures are documented, communicated and consistently followed.
  • Oversee goods-in, storage, picking, stock control, staging and dispatch activities.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and investigate discrepancies, variances and operational issues.
  • Drive effective stock control, stock rotation and cycle-counting processes.
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure operational issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
  • Build strong professional relationships with key stakeholders and maintain a high level of service delivery.
  • Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, organisation, security and equipment management.
  • Support the management of employee relations, attendance, performance, training and development in conjunction with HR.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, quality, environmental and operational requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, processes and overall operational performance.
  • Promote a positive, accountable and collaborative culture across the operation.
  • Undertake additional operational responsibilities appropriate to the role.

Key Attributes

  • Proven experience managing a warehouse, logistics, distribution or supply chain operation.
  • Strong experience leading and developing teams within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Good knowledge of warehouse processes, including goods-in, storage, picking, stock control and dispatch.
  • Experience managing operational KPIs, productivity targets and service-level requirements.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and operational reporting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, quality and compliance requirements.
  • Experience dealing with employee relations, attendance, performance and training matters.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret operational data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
  • A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to lead from the front while maintaining a strong focus on people, service and performance.
