About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead warehouse operations within a fast-paced retail distribution environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven logistics leader to oversee day-to-day warehouse performance, drive operational excellence, and lead high-performing teams while working closely with a key retail customer.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and cost-effective warehouse operations while maintaining exceptional service standards and achieving key operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate and develop Team Leaders, Supervisors, Duty Managers and operational support teams.
Oversee the day-to-day management of inbound, outbound, inventory and replenishment operations.
Manage labour planning, shift structures, productivity and operational costs.
Drive a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and legislation.
Monitor operational KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance.
Ensure high standards of quality, accuracy and customer service are maintained.
Act as the primary operational contact for a key retail customer, managing service levels and operational performance.
Manage customer escalations and implement effective recovery plans where required.
Work closely with Transport, Inventory, HR, Finance and IT teams to ensure operational success.
Ensure effective use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems, with SAP experience being advantageous.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

A minimum of 5 years' experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
Proven experience managing teams within a high-volume distribution environment.
Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
Experience with labour planning, productivity management and cost control.
A strong understanding of warehouse KPIs and continuous improvement principles.
Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); SAP experience is desirable.
Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
The ability to build strong working relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.
A proactive approach with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
