The Opportunity

Clark Recruitment is partnering with a well-established national organisation to recruit an experienced Group Transport Manager to lead transport operations across its multi-site distribution network.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic transport leader to drive operational improvement, optimise fleet performance and implement innovative solutions across a complex national operation.

The role will focus on improving efficiency, managing transport costs, modernising systems and developing a sustainable, commercially effective transport strategy.

The Role

The successful candidate will take ownership of national transport strategy, fleet performance and operational transformation, working closely with senior leadership and operational teams to deliver measurable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a national transport strategy across multiple locations.
Optimise fleet utilisation, route planning, delivery performance and transport costs.
Lead digital transformation initiatives, including telematics and electronic proof of delivery systems.
Manage fleet investment, vehicle replacement programmes and transport budgets.
Oversee third-party logistics providers, supplier contracts and service agreements.
Analyse transport KPIs to identify efficiencies and improve operational performance.
Drive sustainability initiatives, including alternative fuels and fleet decarbonisation.
Ensure compliance with transport legislation, RSA regulations and fleet safety standards.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum 5 years' experience in transport management or senior logistics leadership.
Proven experience managing transport operations across multiple sites.
Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential).
Strong knowledge of heavy commercial vehicles, fleet management and transport compliance.
Experience delivering operational improvements and leading change.
Strong commercial awareness, budget management and analytical skills.
Experience with transport management systems, telematics and third-party logistics providers.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience within complex distribution or specialist fleet operations would be advantageous.
