Grade VII Procurement Officer
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Procurement Officer to lead procurement activity across the organisation, ensuring compliance, value for money, and strong supplier performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with public sector experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working strategically with stakeholders at all levels.
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage procurement activities for goods, services, and capital works
- Develop and deliver annual procurement and tendering plans
- Manage tender competitions in line with public procurement regulations
- Maintain contract registers and oversee contract performance
- Monitor procurement compliance and reduce non-compliant expenditure
- Provide procurement guidance and training to managers and budget holders
- Conduct expenditure analysis and prepare reports for senior management and committees
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Lead procurement-focused strategic projects
- Support continuous improvement across procurement operations
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in public procurement, ideally within the Irish public sector
- Strong experience managing public tenders for goods, services, and capital works
- Excellent knowledge of Irish and EU public procurement regulations
- Experience in contract management, expenditure analysis, and compliance reporting
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
- Procurement qualification desirable
