Credit Controller

My client is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to take responsibility for the effective management of the credit control function. The role involves working closely with Sales, Finance, Management and customers to ensure timely payment of accounts. You will be responsible for maintaining strong credit management practices and resolving payment issues efficiently. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, with the ability to liaise confidently at all levels. The successful candidate will be highly organised, commercially aware and analytical, with excellent attention to detail. A proactive approach to problem-solving, together with the ability to work towards KPIs and targets, is essential.
The role will also include bank reconciliations and elements of treasury management.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to take ownership of a key finance function.

Objectives

  • Develop and monitor a credit control system in collaboration with sales, finance and management.
  • Establish policies that follow customer service best practices while ensuring customers submit payments on time.
  • Check consumer credit reports, approve or deny applications and communicate decisions to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Report any payment issues to management or the appropriate team.
  • Ensure invoices are issued correctly by the system and correct any system issues as necessary.
  • Follow up on overdue invoices and payments and implement company collections procedures as necessary.
  • Look for ways to improve debt collection processes.
  • Treasury – Bank recs and some treasury management will also form part of this role.

Candidate requirements

  • Qualification in credit management desirable / experience in a similar position.
  • Proficient use of MS office – advanced excel is ideal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet KPI'S targets.
  • Ability to liaise and build rapport with a wide range of contacts both internal and external.
  • Undertake any tasks or duties assigned by the appropriate manager from time to time, related to the effective and efficient performance of the position.
