Commercial Manager

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Network and In-Home commercial teams to support the effective management of project budgets, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting. This position requires a commercially focused professional with strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and excellent stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Project Commercial Management

Support operational and commercial teams in achieving project budgets and margin targets
Monitor project performance and report on cost and revenue variances
Ensure CVR reporting is fully reconciled against approved project budgets
Continuously review project budgets alongside Project Directors
Ensure internal commercial controls are operating effectively
Review and manage contract claims, variations, and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle

Subcontractor Management

Ensure all subcontractor documentation and compliance requirements are in place prior to commencement
Review and monitor subcontractor performance and commercial position on a monthly basis
Manage payment schedules and cashflow forecasting for subcontractors
Monitor retention and payment release dates

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Develop KPI and exception reporting across projects
Review monthly P&L performance with project teams
Report weekly on WIP, debtors, and working capital performance
Support revenue assurance, budgeting, and forecasting activities
Assist with ad hoc commercial and financial projects as required

Tenders & Contract Renewals

Support the commercial management of tenders and contract renewals
Develop pricing models, revenue forecasts, and cost projections
Conduct commercial risk analysis and impact assessments
Support proposal and tender submissions alongside bid management teams
Participate in commercial contract negotiations with clients
Develop project timelines, cost profiles, schedules, and margin forecasts for awarded works
Maintain ongoing forecasting for project timelines, costs to completion, and final account position

Requirements

Previous experience within a busy commercial, finance, or quantity surveying environment
Strong understanding of contractual and commercial management principles
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong commercial awareness and organisational ability
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work
Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced project environment
Professional and confident approach when representing the business
