About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead warehouse operations within a fast-paced retail distribution environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven logistics leader to oversee day-to-day warehouse performance, drive operational excellence, and lead high-performing teams while working closely with a key retail customer.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and cost-effective warehouse operations while maintaining exceptional service standards and achieving key operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop Team Leaders, Supervisors, Duty Managers and operational support teams.
• Oversee the day-to-day management of inbound, outbound, inventory and replenishment operations.
• Manage labour planning, shift structures, productivity and operational costs.
• Drive a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and legislation.
• Monitor operational KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance.
• Ensure high standards of quality, accuracy and customer service are maintained.
• Act as the primary operational contact for a key retail customer, managing service levels and operational performance.
• Manage customer escalations and implement effective recovery plans where required.
• Work closely with Transport, Inventory, HR, Finance and IT teams to ensure operational success.
• Ensure effective use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems, with SAP experience being advantageous.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
• Proven experience managing teams within a high-volume distribution environment.
• Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
• Experience with labour planning, productivity management and cost control.
• A strong understanding of warehouse KPIs and continuous improvement principles.
• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); SAP experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to build strong working relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive approach with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
