Commercial Project Manager

Commercial Project Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Project Manager to join their team in a key role combining commercial sales, project management and customer relationship management.

This is a hands-on position suited to a commercially driven professional who can manage the full project lifecycle — from identifying and securing opportunities through to coordinating installation, managing commercial requirements and ensuring successful project completion.

The Role

The Commercial Project Manager will be responsible for generating and managing sales opportunities, developing existing customer relationships and taking ownership of projects through to successful financial completion.

The role requires a strong commercial mindset combined with practical project management capability and the ability to coordinate effectively between customers, site teams and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Sales

  • Generate new business through existing customers, enquiries, tenders and self-generated opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships and identify future sales opportunities.

  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for new products, services and areas of growth.

  • Manage the sales pipeline and provide regular updates on active opportunities.

  • Conduct accurate site surveys and ensure all relevant project information is captured.

  • Maintain strong product knowledge across current and future product portfolios.

Project Management

  • Manage projects from initial sale through to successful completion.

  • Coordinate installation programmes to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the agreed specification.

  • Assess project programmes and ensure realistic delivery expectations are established.

  • Identify and resolve issues proactively to minimise delays, additional costs and return visits.

  • Coordinate site activities, equipment logistics and installation requirements.

  • Maintain effective communication between customers, site teams, stores, production and the drawing office.

  • Build strong working relationships with fitting and installation personnel.

Commercial Management

  • Identify potential customer credit issues at an early stage.

  • Ensure accurate and timely final accounts are produced for completed installations.

  • Monitor aged debtors and support the timely collection of outstanding payments.

  • Take a proactive approach to managing commercial and account-related issues.

Customer Management

  • Develop long-term relationships with existing customers.

  • Maintain regular contact with both active and dormant customers.

  • Understand customers' current requirements and identify future needs and opportunities.

  • Act as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a commercially focused professional with proven experience managing customer-facing projects from opportunity through to completion.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in sales, commercial management and/or project management.

  • Strong customer relationship and business development skills.

  • Experience managing projects involving site activity, installations or logistics.

  • A practical understanding of construction practices and products.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including account management and debtor control.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong initiative.

  • The confidence to liaise with customers, site personnel and internal departments at all levels.

What We're Looking For

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Project Manager who wants genuine ownership across both the commercial and operational sides of a project.

The successful candidate will be commercially driven, organised, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility for projects from initial opportunity through to final delivery and financial close.
