Financial Controller

My Kildare based client is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Financial Controller to lead the finance function and support the continued growth of the business. Reporting to senior management, this is a hands-on role requiring a proactive finance professional who can oversee the day-to-day finance operations while providing meaningful financial insight to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day finance function.
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines.
  • Produce budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor financial performance, analysing variances and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage VAT, Corporation Tax, RCT and other statutory returns.
  • Oversee payroll processes and ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control functions.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital, providing recommendations to improve liquidity.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Partner with departmental managers to provide financial support and commercial insight.
  • Prepare financial reports and KPI analysis for senior management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting and finance processes.
  • Support business planning, strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop members of the finance team.

Key Attributes
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a similiar position.
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to influence business decisions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial systems experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of accuracy with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a finance team.
