Financial Controller

The Finance Controller will be responsible for leading financial operations in Ireland and the UK, including reporting, compliance, planning, and team leadership (including 2 qualified financial accountants). You will act as a strategic partner to the CFO and business units, ensuring robust financial management across both markets.


Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Oversight

  • Manage end-to-end finance functions across Ireland and the UK.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, forecasts, cost centre analysis and variance analysis.
  • Consolidate financial reporting across both entities, ensuring alignment with internal and external requirements.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process across jurisdictions.
  • Prepare the management reporting packs including Board summary slides

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with Irish and UK financial, tax, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Revenue, HMRC, Companies House, CRO).
  • Coordinate year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors in both regions.
  • Maintain and enhance internal control procedures and risk management practices.

Strategic Support & Business Partnering

  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support key business decisions, pricing models, and investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives in both markets.
  • Contribute to funding, grant reporting, and sustainability finance initiatives where applicable.
  • Contribute to ESG and sustainability reporting.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of six finance professionals across AP, AR, Payroll, and Reporting.
  • Set clear objectives, provide ongoing mentoring, and support professional development.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Process & Systems Improvement

  • Drive process automation and finance system enhancements to support scalability.
  • Oversee implementation and integration of financial systems across Ireland and the UK.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and improved financial efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA).
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Experience working across both Irish and UK jurisdictions strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Irish and UK accounting standards, tax, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Prior experience in a growth-stage business; EV, automotive, tech, or cleantech sector experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Sage, Xero) and Excel.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-border environment.
