Financial Controller

My client based in Portlaoise seeks a Financial Controller. As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organisation, ensuring the company’s financial health and supporting its growth objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker who can lead the finance team, provide insightful analysis, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Familiarity with Intact ERP software would be a significant advantage, enabling the candidate to hit the ground running. Reporting to the Managing Director you core duties will entail:

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.
• Prepare regular budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement.
• Present financial reports to senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
• Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control functions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and accounting standards.
• Manage the company’s risk management processes, including insurance and audit requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisers to ensure accurate and compliant reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Coordinate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
• Oversee the implementation and optimisation of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing financial practices.
• Utilise Intact ERP software to streamline financial processes, ensuring the system is leveraged to its full potential.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA (preferred), ACA) is required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a senior financial role, preferably within the healthcare or related industry.
• Strong proficiency in financial management software.
• Experience with Intact ERP software is highly desirable and will allow the candidate to
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Proven experience in leading a finance team with a track record of driving performance and improvements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
• In-depth knowledge of Irish financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.
