Irish Manufacturing Research is looking to recruit a Senior Energy/Water Researcher to work in the Sustainable Manufacturing division.

Working with the Director of Sustainable Manufacturing, the Senior Researcher will support the planning, development and execution of the Sustainable manufacturing research roadmap under the area of renewables and energy efficiency to assist companies on their journey to net zero manufacturing.

The Senior Researcher role provides a unique opportunity to shape the direction of the business and drive leading-edge research engagements for a range of world-class clients.

The role is expected to evolve over time but will initially encompass: -

  • To drive Irish Manufacturing Research’s Sustainable manufacturing research offering in the area of Industrial energy both nationally and internationally.
  • Carry out field audits and provide analyses of members/client facilities to identify research opportunities to improve energy efficiency.
  • Develop and manage industrial energy research projects both at a national & European level.
  • To deliver desktop reviews, workshops, data analysis and written case studies reports in the area of sustainable manufacturing (Energy)
  • Developing strategic partnerships with both national and European stakeholders in the field of sustainable manufacturing (Energy)

Role Requirements

For this new role, we are seeking an ambitious professional, who wants to further advance his/her career as a leading expert in Sustainability manufacturing in Ireland and internationally over the coming years.

Minimum requirements for the role include:

  • A Master’s degree in an Energy, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering field
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in industry
  • Advanced Understanding of HVAC, Building Automation, Energy Management or other building electronic control systems
  • Full understanding of Control protocols including BACnet, LON, Modbus and etc.
  • Familiarity of Mechanical, Electrical(M&E) systems.
  • Experience in leading teams in technical project delivery and/or project management (waterfall & agile)
  • Strong experience in project documentation processes.
  • Experience with energy policies and standards
  • Proven Research experience
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written, presentation and other)
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as ability to work independently
  • English speaking and current Irish work permit
  • A self-starter, with a passion for the area of sustainability
  • Must be legally allowed to drive in Ireland and have access to own transport

Salary & Benefits

This position will command a package consisting of basic salary (depending on experience), employer pension contribution and 5 weeks holidays.
