You will have full responsibility for the ISO 45001 safety management system while ensuring that the company’s Health & Safety targets are achieved and implemented. You will have the ability to prioritise your workload, be self-motivated and work on your own initiative.
The Health & Safety Manager will coordinate the Company’s H&S goals and objectives through the development and implementation of an annual safety work program. You will also be responsible for commercial & operational safety priorities, company policies, procedures & objectives, where you will be fully accountable for all outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support, advise and assist the company’s Management/Supervisors to ensure H&S site procedures are implemented.
  • Organise and coordinate activities designed to identify and quantify existing and all potential new hazards at work and seek action to eliminate or reduce the risk.
  • Develop new and review existing risk assessments at regular intervals (HIRA).
  • Carry out safety audits in conjunction with the Site Safety Officer in order to inspect and check plant, processes, procedures, practices and premises to ensure that the necessary safety standards are maintained and to establish whether additional measures are required.
  • Identify all Health and Safety legislation and bring it to the attention of the managers in whose areas of responsibility it has relevance for action.
  • Maintain the EHS management application so that information provided is accurate and up to date.
  • Investigation of the circumstances and causes of all adverse events through the Safety Officer.
  • Champion problem solving/continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support regarding the Company’s H&S management system, legislation updates, and other technical advice.
  • Develop and deliver training/presentations to support achievement of corporate H&S objectives.
  • Assist Company HR Manager with inductions for staff
  • Provide leadership in the roll out of behavioural based safety training.
  • Carry out other tasks as deemed necessary, that are within the job holder’s capability.

About you:

  • In addition to good IT skills, the job holder will also be an effective communicator with the ability to work in a team and on an individual basis.
  • A positive attitude coupled with strong inter-personal skills and the ability to direct others on health & safety matters is essential.
  • Proven track record of delivering H&S projects across a plant environment
  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent in relevant technical qualification
  • Min 5 years exp. of working in an H&S and Environmental role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant, up to date knowledge and understanding of H&S standards and legislation.
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification with IOSH or equivalent and experience of implementing safety systems
  • Experience of implementing and maintaining continuous improvement in OHSAS 18001 management system and trained in auditing processes.
  • Strong administrative skills: time management, report writing, IT Skills, planning and organisational skills
