We are partnering with our client, Irish Manufacturing Research, to recruit an experienced Senior IT Engineer, to join their company based in Mullingar, Westmeath.

The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key duties:
 

    • Set goals and strategy for IT team, manage IT engineers, contractors and IT resources day to day.
    •  Drive towards pro-active IT: drive proactive IT capacity and capability. Automate everything from maintenance schedules to licences, Reduce reactive troubleshooting.
    •  IT Support: Open, monitor and resolve tickets in a timely fashion, meeting or exceeding defined service levels while providing quality solutions.
    •  Break-fix: Answer, track and resolve first (basic) and second (intermediate) level inquiries regarding software and hardware, copiers, phone system and mobile devices (cellular phone & tablet) via phone, email and in-person during regular office hours and on-call for mass outages, 24/7 basis. Ensure IT customer satisfaction, including taking ownership of open tickets and ensuring incidents are fully resolved.
    • Operational IT: New Starters and Leavers administration, Server capacity and maintenance, access configuration.
    • Continuous improvement: Drive better operational procedures through documentation, iteration and training.
    •  Support our Projects: join our project teams, provide expertise, procure and install equipment and configure software, networks and OS… and drive new IT focused research projects.
    •  Support our WWW apps: Keep our websites and externally hosted apps running and responsive.
    • Support the IMR company network: companies, collaborators, partners and members, Events.
    • 3rd Party vender management: Be IMR’s single PoC with 3rd party venders and service provides including our IT managed Services provider ensuring minimum downtime and maximising our assets.
    • Communication: Deliver exceptional customer service including a passion to go above and beyond user expectations.
    • Support IMR core apps: Act as primary support with responsibility for application configuration and management including administrative tasks, workflow configuration, development & support.
    • Microsoft Apps: Office 365, OneDrive, Sharepoint,
    • Other: Mavenlink, Sage, Jira
    • Cloud hosting: GoDaddy, BlackKnight, AWS
    • Test changes/enhancements through dry runs and receive feedback from users, when required.
    • Install and config of IMR hardware and networks; track warranties, drive good IT Change Management procedures, manage network connectivity and security.
    • IT Project lead: Act as technical lead for projects and manage issues, risks and organizational change management to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.
    • Manage our data lifecycle: from source to archive and deletion, and enable secure and verified access to all who need it, from partner company to IMR employee.
    • Create, archive senior management buy-in, implement and maintain IMR IT policies and processes.
    • All round IT knowledge: Bring solutions to your team, process, and company.
    • Stay abreast of best practice but know about the cutting-edge tech
    • Ramp on the new stuff and bring it in to enable our research.


Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Minimum 6 years of previous service provider or related experience leading IT support projects, operations and/or teams.
  • 3 years Senior IT experience either leading IT at a company(s) similar to IMR size and scope or a senior IT Systems engineer at a larger company.
  • Proven experience of cross platform hardware and software environments including Linux, Windows 10, Mac OS, MS Office Suite (O365).
  • Experience in Office 365 management and support including OneDrive and SharePoint support.
  • Demonstratable Experience in Active Directory infrastructure, administration and management, DNS.
  • Experience with software and hardware-based networking (VLAN, Switches, Firewalls, NAT, VPN).
  • Experience with audio/video conference room hardware
  • Hyper-V\VMWare design, implementation, administration, and management.
  • Experience of various remote-control applications, TeamViewer, WebEx, FTP Server etc.
  • Proven Excellent customer service skills by way of reference
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, able to prioritize, manage time effectively, and multitask.
  • Knowledge of network management.
  • Proven track record of flexibility for urgent issues.


Some Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience managing a small team.
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science or Similar subject.
  • Certified in relevant disciplines (Microsoft, Cisco etc) is desirable.
  • Microsoft Windows Sever 2012 R2 and 2016 experience.
