We are partnering with our client, Racing Academy & Centre of Education (RACE) in Kildare Town to recruit a Financial Controller on a permanent basis.

Racing Academy & Centre of Education (RACE) is the national training academy for the Irish horseracing industry and an international centre of excellence. Established in 1973 as a social project to support young racing apprentices it has evolved into a world-leading facility offering training & further education programmes on its Kildare campus for jockeys, stable staff, racehorse trainers, breeders, farriers and others involved in the thoroughbred sector from Ireland and abroad.

Reporting to the Director your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows.
  • Support directors in development and achievement of company strategy.
  • Timely production of internal & statutory reports.
  • Reporting at quarterly board meetings.
  • Cash management and budget monitoring.
  • Performing the payroll process.
  • Act as company secretary.
  • Staff development and performance management.
  • Budgeting for and monitoring of capital planning, funding and expenditure.
  • Liaising with government agencies and semi-state bodies.
  • Produce management dashboards and KPIs.
  • Project accounting when required.

You will be/Possess:

  • Qualified Accountant – CIMA preferably
  • Minimum 5 years post qualified experience, preferably some experience as a Management Accountant.
  • Strong financial control and budget management skills coupled with a commercial acumen.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ‘hands on’ approach.
  • Strong IT Skills and Advanced Excel essential.
  • Experience on Surf Accounts & Thesaurus advantageous.
  • Energetic and strong Leadership skills.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well with non-finance functions.
  • Staff management experience.
  • Experience of pricing/costing products and services.
