Our Client, a long-standing and reputable service provider, is recruiting for a Stores Person to join their dynamic and close knit team. This is an 11 month full-time position.
For this position, the successful candidate must have a current forklift licence, manual handling certificate and safe pass.
On-the-job experience of using handheld or computerised stock management systems is an advantage.
General Duties
- Every day you will use a screwdriver, spanners, snips, pipe cutters, cable crimpers, plyers, adjustable spanner, a drill and or a heat gun just to mention a few, so your knowledge of how to use these tools and more is required for this role.
- Assisting the service technicians load and unload their vans each morning/evening /daily.
- Keeping the stores/workshop tidy, sweeping the floor, keeping shelves work benches in a tidy order.
- Preparing packaging for recycling/disposal.
- Ensure all benches are kept clear, tidy and tools in the correct place for ease of use when required.
- Keeping the yard and pathways clear and tidy and accessible for deliveries and collections.
- Attend and participate in the Monday morning Team briefings.
Stock control & General Stores operations
- Noting any stock shortages and ensuring that shelves are replenished at all times.
- Ensuring that all stock is priced accurately.
- Driving a forklift for the movement of stock on racks, offloading deliveries and forklift uploading of stock for collection.
- Manually offloading and uploading of stock deliveries and collection using Manual Handling training if lifting is required.
- Checking in stock deliveries ensuring all stock is accounted for as per the delivery docket.
- Assembling pump systems such as booster pump, pressure vessel kits, well caps and other products ensuring that a suitable quantity is stacked on shelves or in reception ready for sale.
Repairs and Jobs
- Carrying out repairs on pumps and ensuring Safe Systems of work are adhered to when carrying out repairs.
- Preparing job from Quotations for technicians to install which will include rolling out cable, piping, splicing cable to pumps and having all required stock ready and palliated for technician’s collection.
- Ensuring that piping and cable are securely tightened into shape for specific delivery or collection method.
- Making sumps to order for dirty water systems which includes cutting of Corri pipe to size, fitting steel lid and base as appropriate for the specific client/job.
- Using forklift for stock movement on racks, delivery off loading and forklift uploading of stock for collection.
- Preparing and filling water treatment vessels for supply or jobs which the technicians will carry out.
- Preparing Rainwater and Sewage tanks for supply/ delivery.
- Ensure Health & safety training which includes Manual Handling training and safe systems of works are used in relation to all aspects of your works in the stores on a daily basis.
Trade Counter
- Dealing with Customers who call to the Trade Counter. Dealing with any queries that they have and providing the products that they require in a timely, pleasant and courteous manner.
- Operating a Till computerised system, SAGE and SuperOffice computer systems to ensure that proper pricing and customer details are accurately recorded for each sale.
- Dealing with Credit card, cash and cheque payments.
- Loading of bags of SALT for sales at the trade counter. These bags are 25kg per bag.
- Piecing together fittings, connections, piping and all products etc for customers individual applications/requirements.
- Sales of pumps from stores area at the trade counter. Weights generally range from 0.4kg to 25kg in weight but can be more where mechanical lifting will be required.
Other General Duties:
- Attending with colleagues to jobs off-site to assist them which may include but not limited to the following:
- Pulling up well pumps, piping, and cable out of wells on your own or assisting colleagues with this task.
- Transporting Pressure vessels and equipment to a pump house/site from van location
- Transporting Water treatment systems vessels and equipment to a pump house/site from van location.
